No 24 until... January 2009!

Now that the writers' strike is over, watercooler talks shifted from "when will the strike be over" to "what shows will come back, when, and for how many episodes." One show that fans were extremely looking forward to (mostly after seeing the video after the jump) was 24. The series, first set to return in January 2008, was shelved by FOX so that season 7 could air uninterrupted.
When FOX made that announcement, some of us predicted that the show wouldn't return until at least mid-August. Since the network is known for starting it's fall season a bit early for certain shows (e.g., Prison Break), maybe the series could have aired from mid-August until the end of December with a few 2-hour long episodes. But it looks like this option won't happen. Instead, we will have to wait 11 months to see what happens next in Jack Bauer's life!
Season 7 trailer..........a surprise character returns.......... YES THERE ARE SPOILERS, but by January of 2009, you'll likely forget you watched this.

Re: 24 return???
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 8:39 PMya, i heard they scrapped this season because they find the story is better when shot more consecutively. since they had to take a big break, the second half of the show might not mesh. ??? they are actors. it's their job to be on cue and collect fat checks for looking good. i'm still a little peeved about this, but at least it keeps me from junking my brain on too many tv hours.
and we never knew that he jumped. it was implied, but as i recall he didn't take a dive off the cliff. maybe i'm wrong. and also, it wasn't earth shattering, and fans weren't all fiendish about this season because of that final shot. a whole shitty season of 24 with a cliffhanger on the weak side insults our loyalty and intelligence that somehow a wounded jack bauer doesn't have the heart for it anymore...whatever. i just wanted to see if they could salvage their show from the depths of neo-cliche.
so do they scrap the whole original idea (the first 12 episodes) or re-film?

Mon, March 24, 2008 - 3:14 PMI also thought they stopped filming for a bit because Kiefer got put in the slammer for a bit for DUI.
But yeah, I'd rather watch the season uninterrupted week to week rather than stretching out the season by the breaks and showing repeats (or update shows - that's why god invented youtube and DVR). I hate that shit.
